Sandy Evans’ latest album The Running Tide, recorded by the Sandy Evans Trio features 14 composition on is a canvas for improvised interaction: some tell a story, others are humorous or ironic, or pay tribute to musical influences or a historic tragedy, and others are meditative, feel based, or entirely free.
Within a trio, it’s possible to constantly communicate musically with the entire band, making it the perfect setting for improvised musical explorations. When the other musicians are as skilled and imaginative as Brett and Toby, those explorations are an absolute joy.
